Pinwheel Baby Quilt...

A close friend asked for a baby quilt for when she has family come to visit.

I had a stack of pinwheel blocks that had been given to me a couple years ago, added some sashing, and the quickest baby quilt ever was made.

The backing and sashing are a print from a fabric line called Paintbox.

I'm loving the fun and bright prints in the blocks, and happy to have put those pinwheel blocks into a quilt that will get used.

Town Square dress/top pattern...

Last week, I was in the testing group for Terra's Treasures new pattern and sewed up a couple dresses for my girls. These were a super-quick sew, and use knit fabrics.

For my oldest daughter, I used a thinner knit that drapes really nicely - purchased at my local fabric store. The polka dot print was a scrap in my stash.

For my youngest daughter, the fabrics are mostly from Patty Young, and were left over pieces from other tops I had made for my girls.

Hoping to sew up a couple more of these in tunic length - perfect for back-to-school with leggings for my youngest daughter that doesn't like to wear jeans.

The Town Square Dress/Top Pattern was just released and is on sale for a limited time.

Laptop Bag Tutorial...

SO excited that I get to share this now!  I was asked to do a tutorial for the Bear Creek Quilting Company blog, and they just posted it!

This laptop bag has a top zipper that opens up nice and wide, a zippered front pocket for your charger, back slip pocket with a hidden bottom zipper which allows it to be slipped onto the handle of your luggage, an interior slip pocket that can fit papers and files, a one-piece handle which makes it extra strong and secure and extra padding to protect your laptop.

The fabrics I used are from the Sweet Harmony and Joyful Blooms lines - and can be found in their shop.  If you'd like to check out the tutorial, you can find it here.

Auditioning for Sewvivor

The Family Ever After blog just opened up auditions for Sewvivor 3, the Quilting Edition. I've decided to link up these pillow covers I made as my entry.  Although I've done a lot of full-size quilts over the years, I consider these covers all one project; because just like a quilt is made up of different blocks, these are blocks that all go together (and I made sure to check with the contest host, and she said they qualify as one entry).

The fabrics are from Moda Daydreams, left over from this wall hanging that hangs in my front entry. The diamond cover has strips ranging from 1/2" to 1 3/4". The design is various width strips echoing a center diamond.

The squares in the rectangle cover are 2" squares with 1" sashing.

The 'Inspire' pillow is done with a panel, borders, and small squares for the outer scrappy border.

The quilting in these covers is a mix of straight-lines echoing seams, and there is some stippling in borders as well as the main panel of the Inspire pillow.  These covers were made by my own design.

new bag for me...

ChrisW Designs had a pattern sale a little while back as an incentive to enter their photography contest. I couldn't resist and made myself this bag the last day of the deadline.

The pattern is called Sugar & Spice and the fabrics are mostly from Pat Bravo's Bazaar Style collection.

Although I didn't win anything in the contest, I am loving the new bag. It was a great push to get it completed and sew up something for myself.

Summer Holidays...

We are in full Summer holiday mode over here.... already got our first camping trip with my sisters and their kids done, spent time in the pool, had some playdates, and one daughter even went off to Summer-camp.  I find it hard to keep my kids fed with all their grazing throughout the day, and requests for snacks. We made sure to keep some Kinder® treats on hand for them - a little bit healthier than most chocolate out there, and no chance of being contaminated with peanuts for me. And the Kinder® eggs also work great for smores since they're thinner than most chocolate bars and melt quickly.

We're looking forward to many more adventures this Summer including more camping, a big family reunion, my parents 40th wedding anniversary celebration, and lots of local day trips with friends and families.  Thoroughly enjoying having to call my kids inside when it's bedtime!

Disclosure: I’m part of theKinder® Mom program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation withthis group.  The opinions on this blog are my own.
